Today, I have a little DIY for you. It is a colourful bouquet of tulips to adorn your front door. I always like to have a little something on my front door. Not only does it cheer me up when I arrive home, but it is good feng shui to have a welcoming entry. This is a good time to sweep away any cobwebs and old leaves that have accumulated over winter, wipe down the door and frame, polish the hardware, and shake out the door mat. Is your porch light in working order? Are there bits in your mailbox? We want everything fresh and ready for your handiwork. One last little word about feng shui and your front entry. If you do not use your front door on a regular basis…perhaps you enter your home through a mudroom or rear door; try making a habit of opening your front door regularly to let in some positive energy.
Here is my finished spring door decor. I tied a piece of ribbon to the wire hanging at the back of the container, and hung it on my door. Then, I attached a large bow over the door hanger. The ends of the bow are tucked behind the tulips. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and feel inspired to welcome spring into your home with a colourful flower bouquet.

Sue, it's fabulous! I painted my door bright red. It's really sexy…but what can I do for spring door decor?
Sue @ A Colourful Canvas says
All white flowers and a black container would look fabulous on red! What colour is your home? You can take your cue from that too.

My house is beige ish. I have a brick enclosed garden against the front of the house- I think your color suggestion would be perfect- even better if I added some splashes of red into the garden. Lets talk about garden fail- I haven't even cleared it out yet or planted anything. I did start some annuals inside though- but nothing in my vegetable patch out back yet either.
P.S. I hate tulle too. 2 tips- you can serge the layers together if you have a serger- makes it much easier to work with, or- have you seen the no sew tutus? You kind of tie strips of tulle to a band of elastic. They aren't real durable though. But super cute!

Your home sounds pretty. Lots of time to be pottering in the garden. My excuse is that it's really a bit too early here yet.
Thanks for the tips! On to the serger we go. I didn't use it initially because my tulle is brown and I didn't have brown serger thread. Lame-O I know.

These remind me of May Baskets we used to make back in the Middle Ages when I was a child. Kidding aside, it's a lovely childhood memory that you brought back … haven't thought of them in years.
Thanks, kid.

What a blaze of coloring, Sue! I love how you celebrate begin of spring. As I can not decorate the front door of my apartment I will buy me a large bouquet of tulips for the living room.

That is incredibly beautiful! I love the colors in yours even better than the inspiration. My door is a dark wood so I don't know if it would pop the same way it does on your white door. So pretty!
Shirl says
Beautiful and thanks for your excellent details of how to make it.
Happy Spring, Sue,

This is a great door DIY. It's still freezing at night here, so it will have to wait until May.

A beautiful and creative idea! Who wouldn't love to come to your door and be greeted by the colors of spring?

I love, love, love this!!! Everything about it from the beautiful set-up to the point you made about opening your front door to let in some positive energy. 🙂

Sue, it really turned out cute. Such a lovely welcome to Spring! I try to make my front porch and door look welcoming at all times. I always notice other people when I drive around town or even on vacation as a matter of fact. Thanks for reminding me that two of my porch lights just burned out. On my list of 'to do's'. Thanks for sharing with SYC.

Sue, this is great! I am seriously heading out the door right after I type this to go buy my materials to make one. It's just the project I need right now. Thank you, thank you, thank you! And, I totally agree with the feng shui positive energy radiating from the front door. One more little thing, I just realized from your last post where you live, I was in your home town last week, next time I'm going to find you.

What! Oh, I'm so sorry we didn't connect. Next time for certain! Have fun with your project.

Oooh, isn't it fun to check out front doors!

With the flowers being plastic, I'm sure they will be fine outdoors.
